Day 74

August 6
Mark 13:24-27

I've said it before, and I'll say it again....this world is not my home! (and thank goodness for that!) Jesus tells us that at the end of all the distress that we learned about yesterday, the sun and moon will go dark and the stars will fall. We will be able to see Jesus coming on clouds with 'great power and glory'. (See? I told you we would KNOW when it was the real Jesus) And angels will gather up all of God's chosen people. Basically the world as we know it will cease to exist. Fortunately, Jesus is coming back for us! I have been thinking a lot about God's plan for my life, and sometimes it's tough to figure out what that is. But, we know from these verses what God's ultimate plan is for us - to be with Him!

Principle: God has a plan to end the world as we know it.

Application:
1. When the things I count on fail, do I remain at peace, knowing God is still in control of the world?
2. Who or what is in control of my life?
3. Am I anticipating with joy how God is going to reveal Himself with power and glory even through my present darkness and turmoil?

2 comments:

  1. It's nice to think about the joy after all the suffering when we see Jesus on the cloud.

  2. "gather his elect" Here is a thought:
Religion is a system that allows us to choose to follow and obey God so God owes us.
The Gospel is a relationship initiated by God where He chooses us and we owe him.

Before you chose God, He chose you.
