Mark 16:19-20
ATTENTION: Please check the site out tomorrow. We will be having a sharing day, which is basically a chance for people to tell what they have learned/what God has shown them throughout the course of the study. Today is the last lesson day, but don't forget to come back tomorrow for day 101- Sharing Day!
Question number three today says, "What work does He want to do though me this week? this day?" Anyone who is a teacher or who has children generally measures time by the school year. Therefore, September- not January- is the beginning of the year because it is when summer ends and school starts. So..Happy New Year! I have often heard the question, "What are you going to do this year?" In fact, when I read the 3rd application question I wondered why they didn't include 'this year?' as a part of the question. But that got me thinking....I often set long term goals. It's easy to say, "This year, I'm going to -fill in the blank." But what about short term goals? What work does God want me to do TODAY? Maybe you've been telling yourself that you need to share the gospel with this certain person, but you've been putting it off. "I'll do it soon - sometime this year." Well, what's wrong with now? We are the disciples of today. We are the ones that God has entrusted to spread His Word. It is our job! The bible doesn't say that the disciples waited around until they felt comfortable and then went to spread the news. It says, "the disciples went out and preached everywhere." It's our turn. What are you waiting for?
Principle: Jesus is in heaven but also with men working out His will on earth.
Application:
1. What difference does it make to me that Jesus is seated at God's right hand?
2. Do I confidently expect that Jesus will give me power to speak for Him?
3. What work does He want to do through me this week? this day?

What does God want me to do this year, today... I think you can take it to the next logical step - what does God want me to do right now. And if I could live my life that way, doing what God wants me to do every moment, then I would be fulfilling Jesus' request to "abide in me".
ReplyDelete#2 I have claimed this verse when going on mission trips. It is one of my favorites. Eph. 6:19 Pray also for me that whenever I open my mouth words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel..
ReplyDelete#2 Do I confidently expect that Jesus will give me power to speak for Him? Yes! I believe it and I live it week by week when teaching the Bible. And the same is true on mission trips and in visiting church members. He is faithful and always comes through. So why am I not more faithful to live it every day? I need to be fearless to make known the gospel in normal life, each and every day.
ReplyDelete#2,Only after I get out of the way and allow Him to work through me. Sometimes I get caught up in what I need to do. I stress over trying to do the perfect job that. I forget that I am just an instrument, He in the one pulling the strings.
ReplyDeleteIt hard to believe that it has been 100 days.
