Day 70

August 2
Mark 13:3-4

The end of the Earth is a topic that seems to come up a lot in movies and other things. Remember the big millennium scare? Some people believed that 1999 would be ‘the end of the world’. Obviously, that wasn’t the case. Still, there is a lot of speculation and controversy about Earth coming to an end. When Jesus started to talk about the tribulation, even the disciples wanted to know when it was going to happen. “Tell us, when will all this happen? What sign will signal your return and the end of the world?” (Matthew 24:3b NLT) Well, Jesus is going to answer over the next few lessons – even if He’s not as specific as we might like Him to be. So the point today is we should not get caught up in the world’s hoopla about when the world is coming to an end. If we have questions, we can ask Jesus!

Principle: In an attitude of belief, one may always bring his questions to Jesus.

Application:
1. Do I live today looking at the signs of the times as fulfillment of Scripture?
2. Will I take the questions that trouble me to Jesus today?
3. Do I trust Jesus’ answers enough to live by them?

2 comments:

  1. I get pretty embarrassed when I think of how Christians have behaved in regard to the return of Christ over the years. Lots of predictions. All of them wrong so far. There is much talk about a chip that can be embedded under the skin for buying and selling. People forget that the "one world system" must include the tribes in the jungle not just the western world. Until it applies to the whole world it doesn't apply. I appreciate the emphasis in this lesson on taking our questions to the Lord. He, unlike so many prophets and predictors will never lead us astray. By listening to him, we will be ready. And we won't look so foolish.

  2. I like to listen to books on tape when I travel. I just recently listened to "Left Behind" by Tim Lahaye. I had not really thought much about the end of the world but this got me to thinking about when Jesus returns. In this story it seems such a small percentage of people belonged to Jesus, We must be a witness for Him now in order to change that.
