Day 60

July 23
Mark 11:20-26

Oh Good! A lesson on faith. We haven't talked much about faith in this study.......just kidding! I'm beginning to wonder which one of us is having issues with faith, cause it sure keeps popping up! In today's verses, Jesus tells us that with faith we can move mountains! I just want to clarify that even though faith is super important, it doesn't mean we can get whatever we want if we believe hard enough. That is not really faith in God, but faith in faith. Faith in God involves wanting His will to be done and therefore praying for His will to be done. Warren W. Wiersbe said, "It has well been said that the purpose of prayer is not to get man's will done in heaven, but to get God's will done on earth." So, if we stay in God's will, and have faith, then we can move mountains. Pretty awesome!

Principle: Answered prayer is the fruit of faith in God.

Application:
1. What "mountains" in my life does God want to remove?
2. Where in my life is an unforgiving spirit toward another blocking God's power to and through me?
3. How will I show I believe that answered prayer is the fruit of faith in God?

3 comments:

  1. Putting our faith in God is a very important lesson in this passage. The other thing that sticks out to me is the forgiving others. Many of you really don't know me. I will make this short. I am going to visit my father this summer(leaving in the morning). I have not seen him in over five years. I have been praying about this visit for a while. Now after reading this scripture I believe what I need to do is forgive my father. Of course this is not something that is easy but I will pray with faith, like a child, that God will prepare the way for me and this will be done before I return home. It is not easy to forgive things that have built up for over 30 years. Please pray for me as I take this trip.

  3. "And when you stand praying" is just a little phrase, so little that it is easy to overlook it. How many of us struggle to stay focused when we are talking to God? Here's an idea: pray standing. I think that the couch may be my enemy when it comes to my prayer life. Maybe it's just the Spirit speaking to me, but I'm going to try it. "Stand up, stand up for Jesus..."
